Glessner House

Designed by American architect Henry Hobson Richardson in the late 19th century, Glessner House was a dramatic shift from the common Victorian architecture of time. And a similarly shocking departure from the mansions of the Prairie Avenue neighborhood where it was built. With its rough granite walls and fortress-like design, it looks more like a modern-day castle than the comfortable urban manor it turned out to be.
