Graceland Cemetery, Chicago IL
Established in 1860 and located on Chicago’s north side (just walking distance from my studio in the Cornelia Arts Building), the Victorian era Graceland Cemetery is so aesthetically impressive and significant that the Chicago Architectural Foundation offers regular tours of it. As well as having tombs and mausoleums of great architectural importance and historical significance, it also contains the spine-chilling sculpture Eternal Silence by Lorado Taft. I have photographed this cemetery since my early twenties when I acquired my first DSLR camera. On each fresh visit, I always find something new, or a different perspective on something already documented in the past.
